Eduardo Chillida sculpture museum in Oslo
Chillida’s works are massive and mysterious. His works included solid and void, time and space, weight and weightlessness. He had said “My whole work is a journey of discovery in Space”. The brightness occupied the void that carved out from the massive stone. The concave line in the steel sculptures that given an enclosed space. Different entrances will be found in every side of his works and all the openings are connected to different voids. Sneaking into varied interlocking mass in his works seem like a slowed-down journey of discovery.
His works inspired me to create a journey of discovery in Chillida’s works. The journey should be mysterious. From brightness to darkness, from heavy weight to light weight, from exterior to interior and from interior to exterior again that appreciate his works. A museum that carved out from the massive ground and happened to be the exhibition space underground. With all dedicated openings and overlapping spaces, the light flooded into the voids. The ramps created a slowed-down journey for discovering his works with spatial sequences that leaded by the shift of the heavy walls and the materials of the artworks in the first sight.
